We finally finished our Valentine’s crafts and decorated the play kitchen with them all! I love mixing craft time and holiday decor so we can decorate with our keepsake memories every year!
If you’re here for the Valentines Day “Love You More” Canvas’… they already have their own blog post! They are definitely my favorite craft of the year so far and were super easy (and budget friendly) to make! Click here!
I think my second favorite of the crafts this year has to be my Heart Garland! I came across a ball of white, pink, and red yarn in the Target dollar spot and it spoke to me, but I wasn’t sure for what! I ended up hopping on Pinterest and was inspired to wrap the yarn around cardboard hearts, and my garland was born! I thought it would be more of a kid activity, but it was actually hard for them to wrap the yarn tight enough that it didn’t unravel from the heart, so it ended up being a project for mom! I cut out 7 hearts from an old cardboard box and wrapped them, but only ended up using 5… so I threw the extra two in our center piece on the dining room table for a little extra Valentine’s flare! For the garland, I simply braided six pieces of the yarn (in pairs) to the length I wanted, and then tied in the hearts evenly spaced apart! Such a cheap and adorable little decor project!
The next project I wanted to share is our Beaded Pipe Cleaner Flowers. These started out as a toddler learning activity for Taylor. I chose three colors of pipe cleaners and three colors of beads and placed them into a container. She had fun “stringing” the beads onto the pipe cleaners… an activity which practices fine motor skills, hand eye coordination, color identification, and matching! When she finished, I molded the pipe cleaners into the shapes of flowers and added them to a mason jar!
I also want to bring a little attention to the wooden heart in between the canvas’! Russ and Mason made that last year at a Home Depot workshop and it’s actually a little box for valentines!! I always forget about them and this is in no way sponsored… but in case you didn’t know, Home Depot frequently does kids workshops for free! The one by us is usually the first Saturday of the month, but contact your local store to see what they have to offer! It’s a great little activity!!
That’s it! They were all super easy and budget friendly to make, and I love how much LOVE they are bringing into our play space!
Happy Valentine’s Day!
