It’s one week ’til St. Patrick’s Day and we are on the hunt for leprechauns! This year we read the book “How to Catch a Leprechaun” and made leprechaun lookers and traps to catch our own!

The first snack of the season was this yummy rainbow marshmallow treat – Froot Loop Cereal Bars! I made them just like Rice Krispy Treats, but with Froot Loops and they were super sweet and delicious!

Once our sweet treats were ready, we got to work on these LEPRECHAUN LOOKERS which are quite possibly my favorite craft because they were SO easy, required minimal supplies, and kept them busy for so long!

They played all sorts of games while they were looking for leprechauns! We made ours by cutting paper towel rolls in half, adding paint and glitter, and tying them together with a little orange ribbon that I snagged on Amazon Prime to avoid a trip to the craft store! I found that by tying them together on one side but leaving the rolls separate, they could look through them better than when I tried to make actual binoculars!

Next up was the trap! There are a million ideas on Pinterest and most of them use recycled materials! I collected a cardboard box and lots of random bright and rainbow colored items from our craft supplies to decorate!

We painted the box first. If you’ve read some of my other posts on painting with kids, you know I always use a heavy duty drop cloth as a table cloth and all disposable items – like solo cups, paper plates, and paper spoons to mix paint, so it can all be thrown away at the end, before idle hands make a mess! We used some toilet paper rolls, the same orange ribbon, and streamers, and Mason came up with a whole idea of how the leprechaun would get in and get trapped… so peep my Instagram stories for that cuteness.

And last but not least… St. Patty’s themed school lunch ideas! You already know we love our Bentgo Kids Brights lunchbox. Mason has been using this one all year without any issues! I’ve been using rainbow sprinkles and Lucky Charms Marshmallows to bring a little St Patty’s flare! The newest treats we added to our selection are these yummy Fancypants Baker Cookies which are all Peanut and Tree Nut FREE, and available on amazon prime for the double win!!
